Sadly didn’t win, but Texas more than made up for it and a firework finale rounded off a super night

Great music and fantastic atmosphere. Even had festival mud on the Sunday. Thanks to everyone concerned for organising this free event!

The winds dropped to leave a perfect night for the hot-air balloon Night Glow at Kirkby Lonsdale. I had hoped for more balloons but I guess we were lucky to get nine after the recent weather. I do a bit of ballooning but hadn’t seen them dance to music before! It was quite a sight. Thanks to all concerned!

At last the set of Penrith and Ullswater walks are complete. I’ve loved doing them – there have been some amazing walks and prehistoric discoveries, but i can’t believe I’ve been working on them for over three years!! Brought up around western Lakeland, Penrith wasn’t an area I was too familiar with, so this Penrith period has perhaps been more of a challenge for my aging brain cells. In my defence though I have rebuilt the website during this time and completed the Settle and Lancaster sets. Probably will do South Cumbria next. I know it quite well so I should be quicker ??

Friends may laugh and call me the bag lady, but in extremes a Blackpool Pleasure Beach poncho on top of my waterproofs is guaranteed to keep me and my rucksack warm and dry! It certainly did the trick on Saddleworth Moor this month. And I thought it could rain in the Lakes!!

I love fairgrounds and make an annual expedition to the Pepsi Max. This year the ride was closed thanks to the dreaded
wind
Infusion was good though and I did pick up a year’s supply of ponchos from folks coming off Valhalla!!

Wray Sca
recrow Festival was better than ever this year – clear blue skies and loads of great scarecrows. My personal favourite had to be King Kong attached to a lampost - an ingenius twist on the Royalty theme for the wedding!
